MENDOTA – The Mendota City Council held a brief meeting on July 15.
Fire chief Dennis Rutishauser reported that the new basketball court has been laid at Strouss Park and it “looks great.” He commended the Mendota Optimist Club and the Mendota Lions Club for spearheading the project.
Alderman Bill Hunt said the first ever Illinois Avenue Street Festival will be held on Saturday, July 20 on Illinois Avenue in downtown Mendota. The festival is presented by the Imagine Mendota group. He said food will be available from 5-7 p.m. and DJ music will play from 6-9 p.m.
Alderman John Pierson announced that a Building/Zoning Committee meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 18 at the city building on Washington Street.
The next regular meeting of the Mendota City Council will be Monday, Aug. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
