MENDOTA – Alice, a young girl, plunges down a rabbit hole and becomes involved in a madcap series of adventures in Mendota High School Drama Department's upcoming production of "Alice in Wonderland."

Presented with licensing agreement with Samuel French, this story draws inspiration from Lewis Carrol's famous children's fiction stories "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass."

The three-act play will feature Alice, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, and a whole cast of fairytale characters, next week. The family-friendly performance will hit the stage on Saturday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 10 at 2:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $5 for students and children, $8 for adults and are available at the door. Doors to the auditorium will open 30 minutes before the curtain time.

The production is co-directed by Eric Masini and Jennifer Masini.

"I liked this production because it features a large cast and is an opportunity for more students to have bigger roles," said Eric.

The play will appeal to those familiar with Disney's Alice in Wonderland cartoon as well as literature fans, he also noted.

The cast of fairytale characters includes: Alice - Maddy Pappas, White Rabbit - Jacob Stohr, Queen of Hearts - Maya Martin, and Mad Hatter - Olivia Ross.

Additional characters to hit the stage include: Herald - Lily Linden, Mouse - Faith Anderson, Queens' Footman - Liam McGann, Duchess' Footman - Matthew Grenter, Cook - Joanna Vasquez, Duchess - Bonnie Hall, Cheshire Cat - Fabian Gomez, March Hare - Devin Wade, Dormouse - Perris Stachlewitz, 2 of Spades - Amaya Olivas, 5 of Spades - Liam McGann, 7 of Spades - Joanna Vasquez, King of Hearts - Emilio Raya, Knave of Hearts - Matthew Grenter, Gryphon - Katherine Wohrley, Mock Turtle - Angelique-Ashli Baker, Red Queen - Alex Stremlau, Tweedledum - Olivia Eddy, Tweedeldee - Leilani Landeros, White Queen - Katherine Wohrley, Humpty Dumpty - Malte Hein, and the Queen's Entourage - Leilani Landeros, Olivai Eddy, Amaya Olivas, Liam McGann, and Faith Anderson.

Several behind-the-scenes crew members will also help to bring the imaginative production to life. The colorful costumes were designed by Sue Seng, Lexi Wamhoff, and Kim Sondgeroth. "It is really fun to see all the pieces come together. I think everyone will enjoy seeing the characters come to life," said Eric.

In addition, "Tea Time with the Mad Hatter" will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 1:30 p.m. in the Mendota High School cafeteria for children K-4th grade to interact with the characters from “Alice in Wonderland” including Alice, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, and Queen of Hearts. The whimsical tea party will include games, treats, photo booth, and party favors. Attendees are welcome to dress up in their own colorful attire, as well. Tickets are $10 each and are available at Sports N Stuff and the MHS Business Office.
