MENDOTA – Mendota High School is holding Homecoming Week activities April 19-23. The theme for this year’s Homecoming is “Teen Beach Movie.”

The Class Homecoming Hallway Decorating Contest began April 16. Class hallways are aligned to the theme of Homecoming Week. The 100 wing (math) is the freshman class. The freshman class sponsor is Mrs. Stewart. The 100 wing (English) is the sophomore class. Mr. Ross is the sophomore class sponsor. The 200 wing (social studies) is the junior class. Ms. Wamhaff is the junior class sponsor. The 200 wing (foreign language) is the senior class. Mr. Doyle is the senior class sponsor.

The sophomore class won first place, the senior class won second place, the freshman class won third place and the junior class won fourth place.

The weekly dress-up days are as follows: Monday was Class Color Day (seniors-red; juniors-blue; sophomores-black; freshmen-green). Tuesday was Neon Day. Wednesday is Teen Beach Movie. Thursday is Theme Day (movie/TV show). Friday is Purple and Gold Day. Come decked out in your Purple and Gold and show your Trojans some spirit.

This year's Trojan Hero is Mr. Dan Beck. Mr. Beck spends his days teaching English at MHS, and after school you can find him coaching on the football field or running scholastic bowl. Oftentimes, Mr. Beck uses his own experiences when teaching, building a stronger connection and growing relationships with his students. Outside of school, Mr. Beck spends time with his wife and children, oftentimes outdoors hunting and fishing.

Leilani Landeros was named the Homecoming Queen and Derek Nanez was chosen the King.

Senior attendants include Bonnie Hall, Ella Massey, Cody Jenner and Jack Beetz. Junior attendants include Liam McGann and Kendra Frey. Sophomore attendants include Edgar Arteaga and Macy Pizano-Olsen. Freshman attendants include Izaiah Nanez and Bria Frey.

This year's Mini Queen is Ell Zinke, daughter of Brock and Liz Zinke, and the Mini King is Waylon Beck, son of Dan and Beth Beck.
