Mendota Veterans Day program set for Nov. 11

MENDOTA – The Mendota Veterans Day program will be held Monday, Nov. 11, at Veterans Park in downtown Mendota. The Mendota High School band will provide music beginning at 10:45 a.m. and the program will start promptly at 11 a.m.

The Mendota VFW Post #4079 Veterans Memorial Squad, its Auxiliary and Mendota American Legion Post #540 will participate in the program.

The Veterans organizations welcome everyone to this service. Its purpose is to honor and remember all veterans, both alive and deceased, for their commitment and contribution to our present way of life, and the benefits of liberty and freedom on both domestic and foreign soil.

The program schedule is as follows:

• Introductions: Bill Hunt, Mendota City Council, U.S. Navy Veteran

• Presentation of Colors: Mendota VFW Post #4079 Veterans Memorial Squad and Mendota American Legion Post #540

• National Anthem: Mendota High School band, directed by Kyle Amati

• Pledge of Allegiance: Audience 

• Invocation: Associate Pastor Jay Miller, Victory Baptist Church, Mendota

• Musical selection: Mendota High School band

• Veterans Day address: Sarah Pfeifer, VFW Auxiliary member

• Firing of Volley: Mendota VFW Post #4079 Veterans Memorial Squad

• Taps: Mendota VFW Post #4079 Veterans Memorial Squad

• Mendota Elementary Music Program: Yankee Doodle Song

• Benediction: Associate Pastor Jay Miller
