MENDOTA - The LaSalle County Veterans Assistance Commission helps veterans and their families apply for benefits and file claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense and various other agencies. They can also assist with obtaining military documents and awards/medals.
The VAC holds weekly outreach hours in Mendota from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday at the Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce, 800 Washington St.
The VAC will help any veteran who may be having issues struggling with these organizations, which can sometimes be cumbersome and confusing. Just stop by the Mendota Chamber office on Thursdays or call the main office in Ottawa at (815) 433-1761 and they will do their best to help.
