MENDOTA - A concrete retention wall at the Mendota creek running through downtown Mendota collapsed into the creek following heavy rains throughout the area last weekend. The wall, which was located behind Delao’s Restaurant, gave way after the city was inundated with approximately six inches of rain over a three-day period.
ComEd workers were on the scene securing a power pole so that it did not fall and city workers began taking steps to help prevent the earth from further erosion into the creek.
