MENDOTA – Fire caused considerable damage to a Mendota home on Nov. 4.
Firemen were called to 1010 Illinois Ave. at 1:22 a.m. Upon arrival, heavy fire was showing from the side and rear of the house, and heavy smoke was coming from the front of the structure.
There were seven occupants inside the home, and all escaped without injury. Also, there were no injuries to emergency personnel.
Local firefighters received assistance from LaSalle, Peru, Earlville and Amboy fire departments.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. Damage to the home was estimated at $110,000. The State Fire Marshal has been contacted to investigate.
Also, the American Red Cross was contacted to assist with needs of the occupants of the home.
