MENDOTA - Wesley Jay Shaver, 34, was born to Dena (Ayers) and the late Kurtis Shaver in Triumph on Feb. 7, 1987 and was raised in Mendota. He went missing on Sept. 22, 2020 and after an extensive search was found in Rockford on March 20, 2021.

MENDOTA - Wesley Jay Shaver, 34, was born to Dena (Ayers) and the late Kurtis Shaver in Triumph on Feb. 7, 1987 and was raised in Mendota. He went missing on Sept. 22, 2020 and after an extensive search was found in Rockford on March 20, 2021.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Del Keilman officiating. Masks are required and social distancing is recommended. Private burial will be held at Restland Cemetery, Mendota at a later date.

Wesley married Michelle Arjes-Carreon in November of 2010.They resided in Mendota and for a short time in Lowell from 2019-2020.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Shaver of Mendota; his mother, Dena Shaver of Mendota; one son, Keegan Shaver of Harrison, Ark.; five stepdaughters, Kelsey Sweger of Oglesby, Tatyanna Carreon, Faith and Hope Baratta, and Talia White, all of Mendota; one brother, Wyatt Nolan of Mendota; his maternal grandparents, Roy and Diane Ayers of LaSalle; his paternal grandparents, Gary Shaver and Julie Olson of Mendota; one aunt, Kimberly Flanagan of Mendota; one uncle, Kevin (Lorelei) Shaver of Mendota; his late grandmother Helen’s significant other, Don Lasik of Utica; his father- and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Constance Arjes of Mendota; a nephew, Clayton and two nieces, Kylee and Kora of Pontiac; and a niece, Avery and several cousins of Mendota.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather, Harold Shaver in 1987; his maternal great-grandmother, Marona Ayers in 1999; his maternal great-grandmother, Arlene Shaver in 2002; his father, Kurtis G. Shaver in 2008; a maternal uncle, Jay Ayers in 2011; his older brother, Waylon Shaver in 2014; and his maternal grandmother, Helen Ayers in 2020.

Wesley worked at Del Monte in Mendota, Northern Partners of Triumph, and Stephenitch Do It Best Hardware store in Mendota. He loved fishing, being outdoors, walking his dog, “Leo,” cooking on the grill, and spending time with his family and friends.
