MENDOTA - Verna Lydia (Lindenmeyer) Gordon, 95, of Mendota, peacefully passed on Aug. 10, 2020 at Heritage Health, Mendota.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Public graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Restland Cemetery, Mendota with Rev. Mary Bohall officiating.

Verna was born July 13, 1925 in Mendota to Joseph and Dorothy (Brown) Lindenmeyer. She married Clarence John Gordon on June 6, 1943. Together they had three children, two sons and a daughter.

Survivors include one son, Ronald (Jane) Gordon of DeKalb; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Gordon, and a daughter, Dixie Summers on Dec. 4, 2019.

Verna was a selfless woman who was always around to help others first, a natural teacher. She enjoyed being an active member of First United Methodist Church in Mendota. Attending county fairs, being dedicated to the rural farming industry, and gardening were favorite pastimes. She made everlasting memories spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
