MENDOTA – The Mendota varsity soccer team took on Winnebago, a former opponent from the Big Northern Conference, and the result was a 6-0 shutout victory for the Trojans on Sept. 14 at the MHS field.
Isaac Guzman paced the attack with two goals, while single tallies were scored by Johnathan Cortez, Edgar Arteaga, Iker Landeros and Ricky Orozco.
Picking up assists were Orozco, Yahir Diaz, Izaiah Nanez, Rafael Romero and Jose Ruiz.

The Trojans entertained another former Big Northern foe, Stillman Valley, and came away with a 9-0 triumph on Sept. 16. Mendota ran its record to 14-0 on the season and posted its 12th shutout, setting a school record that was previously held by the 2018 team with 11.
Diaz was unstoppable for the Trojans, scoring five goals to run his career total to 99. Nanez added a pair of goals, while Jasiel Watson and Orozco had one tally apiece.
