MENDOTA - Stanley LeRoy Pohl, 72, a resident of Wynne, Ark., formerly of Mendota, departed this life Oct. 2, 2021 in Jonesboro, Ark.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Mendota. Cremains will be buried at Restland Cemetery, Mendota.

Stanley was born Jan. 17, 1949 in Mendota to William L. and Margaret (Rhodes) Pohl.

Survivors include his longtime girlfriend, Cathy Hamilton of Wynne, Ark.; his only child, Matthew Bijold of Lake Nebagamon, Wis.; and one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Francis “Whitey” Pohl, Arthur Pohl and David Pohl; and one sister, Betty Soedler.

Stanley was a 1969 graduate of Mendota High School, where he was a member of the track team. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1970 until 1974 and making the rank of sergeant. He spent three years in college studying computer science. At some point in life, he moved to Wynne, Ark. and worked at various co-ops in many different capacities. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and loved watching all sports on TV and spending time with family and friends.
