MAYTOWN - Richard L. “Dick” Cardot, 79, of Maytown reunited with his wife, Mary Ann, on Feb. 18, 2022 at Heritage Health in Mendota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maytown. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Maytown. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maytown with a Rosary at 3:45 p.m. from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.

Dick was born Feb. 26, 1942 in Amboy to Gilbert and Betty Jane (Slagle) Cardot. He married Mary Ann Klein on July 13, 1963 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mendota. She preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 2020.

Survivors include his children, Rick (Deb) Cardot of LaMoille, Denise Cardot of Morton and Kris (Tom) Goodwin of Dixon; and two grandchildren, Stephen (Ashlea) Cardot of Ohio and Emily Cardot of Deerfield.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

Dick had farmed the family farm in Maytown where he was born and raised and worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 30 years, retiring as Sign Shop Foreman. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to stock car and NASCAR races. They also enjoyed card club and Dick enjoyed his “4:00” gathering with friends at the Long Branch.

A memorial has been established.
