Paw Paw Board handles items

PAW PAW – The Paw Paw Village Board met in regular session on Sept. 11.

Michelle Fay, secretary of the Paw Paw Boys and Girls Club, and Janice Dunklau, newly appointed director, presented to the Board a request for a donation to assist with the cost of their Healthy Snack Program for the children in their before-and- after school care. Paw Paw Boys and Girls Club strives to provide nutritious and organic choices for our children.

The Board discussed investing some of the funds in the General Fund account into CDs.

The community parking lot has been resurfaced and painted. Handicap parking spaces are located behind the community center, for convenience to the elevator.

It was brought up that the village has an ordinance allowing only three cats/or dogs per household.

The Veterans’ Park concession stand has been rehabbed and modernized, with new gutters added.

New gutters and snowguards have been installed on the Community building.

The possibility of building new bathrooms for the park was discussed.

The Lions Club is sponsoring a pawpaw tree festival on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. in Veterans' Park.

There will be speakers discussing the history and significance of the pawpaw, a walking tour of village pawpaw tree locations, vendors, seeds, samples, and seedling trees for sale.  Local bakers/cooks will have their creations of what delicious items can be made from pawpaws.

The town-wide garage sales will be Sept. 27-28, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Halloween trick-or-treating hours will be Thursday, Oct. 31, 4-7 p.m.
