MENDOTA – The Mendota High School Fine Arts Department is excited to announce its upcoming performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization (www.concordtheatricals.com). Through the combined efforts of the choir, the Drama Club, the band, and students enrolled in art and theater courses at MHS as well as parent and community volunteers, the magical tale of seemingly impossible dreams that really do come true will be brought to life on the MHS stage.
The musical is directed by Eric Masini, Jennifer Masini, and Jon Steben and will be performed in the MHS auditorium on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 at 7 p.m., as well as on Sunday, April 3 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 and are available on the Mendota High School website (www.mendotahs.org) as well as on the Mendota High School Choir Facebook page. Any remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the door at each performance.
Based upon the original book by Oscar Hammerstein II, Douglas Carter Beane’s adaptation of Cinderella tells the story of Ella (Faith Anderson), Ella’s wicked stepmother Madame (Karli Miars), and Ella’s stepsisters Charlotte and Gabrielle (Laura Arenz and Mia Raya). The characters are a part of the pursuit of Prince Topher (Liam McGann), as he seeks to find himself as young royalty under the questionable advisement of the Lord Chancellor Sebastian (Eulysses Preciado) and the Chancellor’s second-in-command Lady Pinkleton (Karsyn Klatt). Throughout the show, Marie (Maya Martin), helps Ella find her voice and move from her own little corner and into the spotlight, while the passionate revolutionary Jean-Michel (Zach Compell) attempts to draw Prince Topher’s attention to corruption in the kingdom.
Cinderella is a show filled with comedy, music, and fun for the whole family that you will not want to miss.
