MENDOTA – A tight game after two quarters turned into a rout for the Mendota Lady Trojans over Princeton, 54-35, on Nov. 21 at the MHS gym.
Mendota took a 15-13 lead after the opening stanza and bumped the margin up to four (27-23) at intermission. The tide turned in a big way in the third quarter when the Lady Trojans pumped in 17 points and held Princeton to just six.
“It was a huge effort defensively,” said Mendota coach John Hansen. “Brandy Delao and Alex Barrera took turns guarding Princeton’s leading scorer Anna Murray and both did a phenomenal job. And Amellia Bromenschenkel had a huge MHS gym debut.”
Bromenschenkel led the attack with 25 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Abby Phalen also contributed in a big way with 12 points and nine caroms.
Mendota improved its record to 3-2.
