MHS boys 5th, girls 7th in Rollie Morris Invite

SPRING VALLEY – The Mendota track teams traveled to Spring Valley to participate in the Hall Rollie Morris Invitational on April 13.

The Trojan boys took fifth place in the team standings with 61 points. Bureau Valley captured the top spot with 122 points, outdistancing second-place Streator (106). Twelve teams figured in the point standings.

Mendota had two first-place finishes. Sebastian Carlos kept up his dominance in the 400-meter dash with a winning time of 51.2. The other top placement went to Mason Koch, who went 39-3.25 to seize the triple jump.

In the girls’ competition, Mendota tallied 40 points and was seventh in the team standings. Bureau Valley made it sweep by winning the girls’ meet with 123 points, while Princeton was a close second (118).

Freshman Mariyah Elam was the lone first-place finisher for the Lady Trojans, taking the long jump with a height of 4-11.75.
