Mendota schools closing early due to rising COVID cases

Posted

MENDOTA – Due to rising numbers of COVID-positive individuals and quarantined close contacts, all Mendota students will begin their Winter Break a few days early. Mendota High School District 280 and Mendota Elementary District 289 will have Friday, Dec. 17 as their last day in 2021, meaning no school next week as originally planned.

Mendota High School will not be having final exams for the first semester, as they were scheduled for next week. Principal Denise Aughenbaugh will be sending out additional information to students and families.

Both Districts will have two days added to the end of their academic years, as a result of this calendar change. Once these changes are formalized by their corresponding Boards of Education, amended calendars will be released.

These changes are being made as yet another intervention during the pandemic in an effort to keep our students, staff and community as healthy as possible. The Districts would again like to thank the community for their continued partnership in these difficult times. If you have any additional questions, please contact your child’s school.
