MENDOTA – The Mendota varsity girls’ tennis team is off to a fast start with wins over Pontiac, LaSalle-Peru and St. Bede to start the season.

Mendota hosted Pontiac on Aug. 24 and came away with a 4-1 victory. Alex Stremlau and Alexis Finley claimed both singles matches for the Lady Trojans, while MHS captured two of the three doubles matches. The teams of Lizzy Bresley-Jackie Cortez and Talya Schwaegerman-Isabelle Escatel picked up wins.

LaSalle-Peru and St. Bede traveled to the Mendota courts for a triangular meet on Aug. 26. Against L-P, the Lady Trojans posted a 3-2 win. Finley was a winner in her singles match. Doubles victories went to Bresley-Zoe Finley and Schwaegerman-Escatel.

Mendota turned back St. Bede, 4-1. Stremlau and Finley swept the singles matches for the Lady Trojans, while the doubles duos of Bresley-Finley and Schwaegerman-Escatel also were victorious.
