MENDOTA - Mary Kay Evans, 79, of Mendota, passed away Sept. 30, 2021 at her home.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Greenfield Cemetery, LaMoille with Rev. Larry Sheaves officiating. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.

Mary was born July 4, 1942 in Mendota to Ralph and Mary Jane (Hampton) Swope. She married Earl Eugene Evans on Aug. 9, 2016. He preceded her in death in 2018.

Survivors include one son, Timothy Eugene Evans of Coram, Mont.; six daughters, Kimberly (Scott Tallent) Chapman of Mendota, Denise (Edward) Culver of House Springs, Mo., Wanda Winters of Kevin, Mont., Candy (Greg Chandler) Evans of Coram, Mont., Tora (Tony) Powell of Hungry Horse, Mont. and Lavina Evans of Coram, Mont.; one brother, Larry Swope of Mendota; two sisters, Linda Brumley of Mendota and Janet Hough of Sun City, Ariz.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Terry Chapman and Jeffrey Chapman; one daughter, Tona Evans; one sister, Barbara O’Connor; and two brothers, James Swope and Donald Swope.

Mary was a devout Christian. She worked for Glacier National Park for 15 years cleaning hotels with friends and family. She enjoyed listening to music and learning new things from reading. She loved to cook and her specialties were baked beans, apple crisp and potato salad. Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
