MENDOTA - Margaret Elizabeth Lewis, 89, of Mendota, passed away Jan. 20, 2022 in her home.

Margaret was born May 6, 1932 in Cooperstown to Wayne and Evlyn (Thomas) Snyder. In 1954, “Margo” married her high school sweetheart, Charles “Chuck” Lewis, who was the love of her entire life. They spent the next 67 years together raising their family while maintaining a local large and small animal veterinary practice.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Dr. C. E. Lewis and their three children, Bruce, MD (Rebecca, MD) Lewis, Debra Lewis and Kent Lewis; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Effie Snyder.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Ann (Don) Davis, Robert (Effie) Snyder, Virginia (Bob) Henry, and Marilyn (John) Lewis.

Margo had many interests. She and Chuck delighted in going on special trips to interesting places around the world. They also enjoyed visiting relatives. They were avid sports fans and especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Margo and Chuck were bridge partners in couples’ clubs and also competed in the American Contract Bridge League for Life Master points. Margo hosted and attended ladies’ bridge clubs with her friends. She and her identical twin sister, Marilyn always had lots of fun on their annual trips to Life of Riley resort in Cook, Minn. Margo was also exceptional at gardening. She particularly found joy when butterflies fluttered around her. She enjoyed her friends, church and community and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
