MENDOTA - Louise A. Sheridan, 94, formerly of Mendota, passed away Oct. 24, 2021 at LaSalle County Nursing Home, Ottawa.
Private family services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Sandy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. There will be no visitation.
Louise was born April 30, 1927 in Mendota to Nicholas and Anna (Holland) Smith, Sr. She married Patrick Sheridan on Dec. 26, 1956 in Pittsfield. After 62 years of marriage he preceded her in death on March 15, 2019.
Survivors include five nieces, Carrie Olsen of Columbia, Mo., Mary Jo Arrendondo and Joy Ladson, both of Mendota, Barbara Davis of Junction City, Ore. and Sue Emsrude of Mineral Point, Wis.; two nephews, Dave Sterchi of Cape Coral, Fla. and Kim Sterchi of Crystal Lake; a sister-in-law, Mary Sterchi, formerly of LaMoille; and numerous grand- and great-grand-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Louise She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Josephine Ashcraft; and one brother, Nicholas Smith, Jr.
Louise worked for a short time at Kroger’s in Mendota and then worked many years at A&P Food Stores. She was also a homemaker. She was a helpmate and friend to many neighbors, relatives and acquaintances.
