MENDOTA – Mendota took advantage of wildness by Riverdale pitchers to claim an 8-3 win in the Mendota Class 2A Regional Softball semifinals on May 15 at the MHS field.
Of the eight runs Mendota scored, seven of them crossed the plate either by a wild pitch or passed ball. The Lady Trojans also benefited from six walks and three hit batters by Lady Ram hurlers.
Mary DeFore was the winning pitcher, while Jenna O’Donnell drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Mendota had four singles in the contest.
The Lady Trojans (13-16) are scheduled to face Orion in the regional championship game at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 17 at the MHS field.
