LA SALLE - James “Roy” Hensley Jr., 77, of LaSalle passed away Aug. 25, 2021 at Aperion Care in Spring Valley.
Memorial services with be from 1 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle. There will be no reception following the services.
James was born Jan. 1, 1944 in New Madrid, Mo. to James “Doc” and Bessie (Sharkey) Hensley.
Survivors include five children, Melissa Hensley of LaSalle, Rob Hardy of Camden, Ohio, Brian (Rhonda) Hensley of Kangley, Tina Hensley of LaSalle, and Douglas Hensley of Peru; 15 grandchildren; twenty-six and a half great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and eight siblings, Arzella Starkey of Topeka, Kan., Peggy Fuller of Twin Cities, Minn., Tony Hensley of Cherry, Bill Hensley of Mendota, Marilyn Rodriguez of Mendota, Tammy Hendricks of Mendota, Danny Hensley of Mendota, and Ellen Ceretto of Spring Valley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Renee; one great-great granddaughter, Scarlett; and two sisters, Linda Hensley and Ruth Ferroni.
Roy worked in maintenance at Heritage Health in Mendota. He enjoyed fishing and listening to music, especially guitar music. He also enjoyed watching wrestling and westerns.
