ROCKFORD - Edward F. Rosenwinkel, 91, passed away Feb. 8, 2022 at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. A memorial service will follow the visitation at noon with Pastor Gregory Hoffmann officiating. Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date at St. Patrick Cemetery in Rochelle.

Ed was born Feb. 12, 1930 in Bloomingdale to Ernst and Martha (Edecker) Rosenwinkel. He married Barbara A. O’Malley in Berwyn on June 30, 1962. She preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 2003.

Survivors include three sons, Mark (Gayle) Rosenwinkel of Rochelle, Eric (Kathryn) Rosenwinkel of South Beloit and Curt (Maureen) Rosenwinkel of Palatine; 11 grandchildren, Nicholas, Jared (Jade), Matthew, Aaron (Emma), Ellie, John, Ann, Michael, Jack, Brian and Katherine; a sister-in-law, Ruth Rosenwinkel of Bartlett; special niece, Therese Ann (Rich) Thomas of Mendota; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Harvey, Willard and Ralph Rosenwinkel; and one great-grandchild.

Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and was a proud supporter of his grandchildren. He often would attend their sporting events and always appreciated lunch out with everyone at a family restaurant. As a lifelong farmer, he liked going for drives, checking the fields, and commenting on the condition of the crops. We will miss him spontaneously dropping by for a chat over a cup of coffee or a half a beer!
