MENDOTA - Dennis Arthur Matz, 75, passed away Dec. 14, 2020.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Due to COVID-19, the family is not having a public service. A private family gathering was held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery on Dec. 19. Wasmer Funeral Home was privileged to assist the family.

Dennis was born March 15, 1945.

Survivors include four children, Cherie (Toby) Easler, Roben (Randy) Woodward, Jennifer (Jeff) Benac, and Todd (Monica) Matz; and 11 grandchildren, Nathaniel and Elizabeth Easler, Trace, Hunter and Makayla Woodward, Jacob, Joshua and Hannah Benac, George and Trevor Gavitt and Wesley Matz.

He was preceded in death by one son, Dan (Sharon) Matz.

Dennis had a passion for life and enjoyed many activities including coaching Pee-Wee football, participating in his local Lions Club and riding his Harley. He worked in maintenance for many years and near retirement, he started in another field of employment driving school buses. He truly enjoyed driving his route and seeing “his kids” each day.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mokena Lions Club or contact a family member for a local charity near you.
