MACHESNEY PARK - Carol Ann Tastad, 75, of Machesney Park, formerly of Mendota, passed away April 21, 2021 at TLC Living Community in Machesney Park.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. followed by visitation from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 26 at the Wasmer Funeral Home, Mendota with a service officiated by Rev. Susan Presley afterward also at the funeral home. COVID guidelines will be followed and masks are mandatory.
Carol was born May 30, 1945 in Ottawa to Clarence and Elvina (Carpenter) Bagley. She married Ron Tastad on May 7, 1966 at Holy Cross Church in Mendota. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1990.
Carol will be dearly missed by one daughter, Ann (Ron) Montgomery of Rockton; one son, Chris (Stacey) Tastad of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandsons, Cole and Alex Montgomery of Rockton; sisters-in-law, Judy (Warren) Cofoid of Oglesby and Ruth Ann Tastad of Rockford; and her cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Robert; and her parents.
Carol’s family moved to Mendota in 1954 and she graduated from Mendota High School in 1963. She was a member of Mendota V.F.W. Post 4079 Women’s Auxiliary and TOPS. She enjoyed traveling with her girlfriends, especially bus trips and cruising the “High Seas.” She loved her family, most especially her grandsons, Cole and Alex. She had many lifelong friends who were her sisters by choice. Cats were her weakness and she was most fond of her Siamese babies.
