Ron and Cheryl Zolper, then and now
BYRON - Ron and Cheryl Zolper of Byron will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 30.
Fifty years ago, Ron Zolper stood in line in the Fort Gordon Army Base barracks in Georgia waiting to call Cheryl Miller, who was working nights at Wayside Printing Press in their hometown of Mendota to ask her, "Will you marry me?"
They were married at St. Sebastian Church in Frankfurt, Germany on June 30, 1967.
Together, they raised six children: Elizabeth of Hendersonville, Tenn.; Teresa (Joe) of Byron; Michael (Angie) of Baraboo, Wis.; Paul (Paula) of Lisle; Laura (Billy) Bowlin of Loves Park; and David (Kelly) of Normal. They also have 12 grandchildren.
The Zolpers have enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and the world together. They will celebrate their anniversary with their family and look forward to many more happy years.
