Sweet Corn Festival Mini Royalty contestants sought

Registration has begun for the 2019 Sweet Corn Festival Mini Royalty Pageant. Kayne Schnieder, Mini King and Macy Mahaffey, Mini Queen were last year’s winners. MENDOTA – The Mendota Chamber is seeking candidates for the upcoming Sweet Corn Festival Mini Royalty Pageant. Plano Molding Company of Mendota will be sponsoring the Sweet Corn Festival Mini King & Queen Pageant. Advanced registration is necessary for the pageant.

The 2019 Mendota Sweet Corn Festival Mini King and Queen will be selected on Saturday, Aug. 10. The Pageant begins at 10 a.m. on the First State Stage. In case of rain, check the Sweet Corn Festival Facebook Page.

Mini-Royalty Contestants should meet behind the First State Stage at 8:45-9 a.m. for check-in. A parent will be able to stay behind the stage with the child. Judging will take place from 9-9:45 a.m.

Co-Chairpersons for the event, Randi Halbmaier and Tina McPheeters, have announced that the 2019 Mini King & Queen will each be presented with $50 in Chamber Gift Certificates from sponsor Plano Molding Company. 

Contest rules are as follows: Candidates must be 5 years of age on or by the date of the contest or entering kindergarten. Candidates must be a resident of the Mendota Elementary School district.   

Parents may register their children for the Mini-Royalty Contest by filling out the registration form and statement of intention. Forms for the pageant may be obtained from the Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce office, the Mendota Swimming Pool, and the Graves-Hume Public Library.

Return forms by mail or bring to: Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce, 800 Washington Street, P.O. Box 620, Mendota, IL 61342 by Friday, Aug. 2. No applications will be accepted after this date.
