MENDOTA – Sullivan’s Foods of Mendota will again join the list of major sponsors of this year’s Sweet Corn Fest. There will of course be tons of sweet corn that will require many pounds of butter and Sullivan’s Foods will see to it that the Mendota Chamber will not run out of this precious Sweet Corn Festival commodity. They will be donating all the butter used on the Del Monte Sweet Corn that will be served free to the public on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 13 in Mendota.
The serving of the free, hot buttered sweet corn begins about 2 p.m. and is an enormous undertaking with many volunteers helping so that everything runs smoothly.
Sullivan’s Foods is also bringing the Bloomington Shrine Club Calliope unit that will be in the Grand Parade at 1 p.m. on Sunday of the fest. It is an authentic circus calliope organ that is 100 years old. The Shriners have been taking it to parades since the 1950’s.
Sullivan’s invite all to enjoy the festivities of the 70th Annual Sweet Corn Festival, Aug. 10-13.
