UTICA – Starved Rock State Park is gearing up for the fall with free programs and special events starting this September at the IDNR Visitor Center.
“Falconry with Rich Escutia” will be presented from 1-3 p.m. on Sept. 8-9, Sept. 22-23, Oct. 6-7, and Oct. 20-21.
An “Autumn Migratory Bird Hike” will be held on Sept. 15 from 8-9:30 a.m. Join the park interpreter as you hike to seek out resident birds and greet the fall migrators. Bring your binoculars and your favorite bird guide. Preregistration is required via email at DNR.StarvedRock@illinois.gov.
“Buzzing, Beautiful Bees” will be held on Sept. 23 at 1:30 p.m. Merlin and Susan Calhoun will give a sneak peek into these tiny creatures’ amazing lives, including habitat, behavior, and the challenges they face in our world.
