OTTAWA – The Reddick Mansion is hosting its first-ever painting party on Friday, Feb. 8, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Lori McCarter, local artist and experienced party host, will instruct attendees as they complete their “Tree of Love” painting.
McCarter has been “hosting” painting parties for almost five years at a variety of local venues including the Lone Buffalo, the Pink Chihuahua, Pine Hills Golf Club and Starved Rock Lodge. She has also done several fundraising parties for local non-profit organizations including Marquette Academy and Camp Tuckabatchee.
According to McCarter, “This piece will be done with step by step instruction and as much help as needed to help each artist go home with their own original piece of art to proudly give or display. Most people attending may not have painted a picture since childhood and although each artist’s skill level will vary, we will focus on fun and friendship, not on stressing about painting a heart. Come with an open mind and leave with an awesome piece that you can call your own. Don’t say, “I can’t”, say “I’ll try””.
McCarter added, “I am looking forward to holding my first Painting Party at the Mansion. The painting that was chosen is the Tree of Love which will look absolutely gorgeous as Valentine décor for your home or a perfect “gift from the heart” for that special someone. The painting will be done on a 16x20 wrapped canvas as that once it is painted, will be ready to hang—no framing necessary.”
Everything will be provided to complete the paintings that evening. Participants are urged to bring a friend and their adult beverage of choice. Snacks and soda will be provided and the artists may bring a treat to share, if they like. McCarter also recommends that old clothes or a paint shirt be worn.
The Tree of Love is an adult class for men or women of any skill level. Limited spaces are available and early registration is suggested. Cost is $35 per person and pre-payment is required. Please call the Reddick Mansion at (815) 433-6100 or register on-line at www.reddickmansion.org.
