Posted

PAW PAW - Kristie Romanski was sworn in as a village trustee during the Feb. 12 Paw Paw Village Board meeting. Romanski is filling a vacancy on the board.

Members of Paw Paw Girl Scout Troop 5158 were present to request that Girl Scout Week be designated in honor of the Girl Scouts’ 108th birthday. Village President Mike Torman proclaimed March 8-14 as Girl Scout Week in Paw Paw.

The board heard complaints from residents regarding a burned house that needs to be razed and refuse removed and also about unsightly and visible storage of derelict vehicles.

In other business:

  • Algonquin Liberty Power, representing Shady Oaks II Wind Farm, presented information regarding wind turbines within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Paw Paw, which will be regulated by the county.
  • In order for the village to remain in compliance with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, a survey is sent to each residence every two years to determine whether there are actual or potential cross connections to the village’s water system. Such a survey will be sent soon and will be due back by March 23.
  • Two village pumps were repaired by Mississippi Valley Pump Inc.
  • The board hired Mark Clayton as a full-time maintenance person for the village.
