PAW PAW – The Paw Paw School Board held a meeting on April 15.

Paula Kennedy, Indian Creek curriculum director/technology strategist, announced that there will be a DeKalb County-wide Teachers’ Institute on Oct. 11. Paw Paw teachers are invited.

Indian Creek School District has donated a scoreboard and 90 Chromebooks to Paw Paw School. Paw Paw’s PTO had been saving for a new scoreboard, and will now use those funds for installation.

TRANE presented an updated proposal for upgrading school facilities, HVAC, heater, ventilation systems, LED lighting, and the roof. The Board will do some comparative analyzing and make a decision for implementation of improvements within a month.

Approval was granted for installation of a tree on school grounds, donated by the Flanagan State Bank in memory of Kerry Moorehead.

The 2019-2020 school calendar was approved. It was dovetailed as much as possible to correspond alignment with I.C. for our students and teachers’ schedules.

Ms. Phillips reported that there are eight students currently with perfect attendance for the school year. Truancy has been reduced.

Danielle Allen and Todd Schrader will be installed as new board members once the county vote canvas has been completed and certified, which should be no later than April 23. To do this, the Board will hold a special board meeting on April 29 at 6 p.m. for the purpose of reorganization of the Board. Also during that meeting, the Board will conduct interviews of all candidates who wish to fill the remaining vacant seat with the intention of installing that person at that meeting. Anyone interested in interviewing for the vacant seat needs to contact Mr. Adcock via email: stanad@2paws.net.
