MENDOTA – Several students from Lincoln and Northbrook Schools attend the Young Author Celebration, April 26 at Grand Bear Lodge in Utica with other students from the Starved Rock Reading Council area. The selected students submitted a poem, book or short story that was then chosen by a committee. The winners, in grades K-8, heard presentations by award winning authors Julia Durango, Peter Kujawinski, and Janet Nolan, and received an autographed book and certificate of participation.
District 289 winners were: 3rd graders Eden Pecher and Gavin Stevenson, 4th graders Jessica Reel and Gianna Hall, 5th graders Jillian Younger and Quin Holland, 6th graders Hannah Rich and Billy Hall, 7th graders Makayla Lara and Alexis DeWaele, and 8th graders Faith Anderson and Savannah Foss.
