Marion Quintana of Mendota and her father, Celerino Medellin paint a mural for the Mendota Garden Club on the corner of 6th Street and 6th Avenue. Quintana was approached by the garden club on the project. Although she has never painted a mural before, she likes to do arts and crafts and accepted the challenge. Together with the Mendota Garden Club, a design was chosen and painting began on Aug. 4. She plans to finish the mural with more colorful flowers. Paint for the project was donated by R.P. Lumber and Stephenitch Do It Best Hardware. (Reporter photo by Jennifer Sommer)
