PRINCETON – Wisconsin singer/songwriter Peter Mulvey returns to the Princeton Coffeehouse on Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. A Coffeehouse favorite, Mulvey last appeared here in 2015. On the same bill will be singer and guitarist Phil Heywood.
An iconoclast in the songwriting world, Mulvey has made eighteen records spanning rock and roll, folk, jazz, spoken word, and Americana.
There is Another World, Mulvey’s latest album, was released in February.
Phil Heywood plays fingerstyle guitar with a bluesy swing. His playing evokes the down-home rhythmic groove of a Mississippi John Hurt or Leadbelly, and the fluidity and melodic flair of such contemporaries as Leo Kottke, with whom he has performed. In 1986, he won the National Fingerpicking Championship, and followed up a year later by winning the American Fingerstyle Guitar Festival Competition. His newest CD is Rollin’ On.
Admission is $20 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m.
The Princeton Coffeehouse is located at Open Prairie UCC Church, 25 E. Marion St. in downtown Princeton. The venue is completely accessible and there is ample free parking nearby. Fair trade coffee, tea and homemade desserts are available.
