MENDOTA – The Mendota High School Band has been working hard to prepare for the 70th Annual Sweet Corn Festival Parade. The Marching Trojans are proud to once again represent Mendota High School and the community of Mendota at this exciting event.
To prepare for the parade, students have been busy practicing this week during “band camp.” Camp consists of a 3.5 hour practice and marching session every morning, as well as a 1.5 hour rehearsal each evening. Students on the drumline also have an additional “drums only” rehearsal each day. In addition to working on the music for the Sweet Corn Festival Parade, the band is also preparing the music and drill for their pregame and half time shows, which they will perform at home football games this fall.
The 75-member Trojan Band performs for all home football games and local parades. Additionally, the Mendota Band performs various indoor concerts throughout the year. They have traveled extensively; most recently to Nashville, Tenn., last spring. Previous tours included: New Orleans, Atlanta, New York, Washington D.C., Texas, Florida, Canada and Mexico.
The 2017 Marching Trojans are led by drum majors Gerudiel Hermosillo and Jacob Stohr and directors Chris Dortwegt and Lori Schrock. Come out and show them your support with a round of applause as they pass in review in Sunday’s Sweet Corn Festival Parade!
