MAYTOWN – The latest batch of Little Dresses for Africa are now being worn by girls in Uganda thanks to members of St. Patrick’s Parish in Maytown.
Parishioners first began the sewing project in 2011 and since then, along with their neighbors and friends, have sewn 3,650 dresses and hundreds of “Britches for Boys.”
Pam Dokotum, a native of Sterling, sent the photo of the girls in Ayera Village, Uganda wearing their new dresses. Dokotum and her husband, Okaka, are missionaries in Ayera.
The sewing team meets on Wednesdays at the parish hall, although some members do their sewing at home. For more information or to receive a pattern, please call Marilyn Weeks at (815) 638-2202.
