PRINCETON – The next regular meeting of the Bureau County Genealogical Society will be held on Thursday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at the Society library at 629 South Main Street in Princeton. The featured speaker for the program will be Bill Ewalt, a BCGS member from North Carolina. He will present: “Is There a Pilgrim Behind that Brick Wall of Mine?”
Ewalt will share his personal experiences in applying for membership in the Alden Kindred of America. His initial filing was questioned by the organization. Through the use of DNA and additional evidence, he was accepted into the Alden Kindred as a direct descendant of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins through his maternal line of Stephen Decatur Porter and Celia Cole.
The public is invited to come hear this interesting topic. The 400th anniversary of the Mayflower will be celebrated in 2020. Come learn how one person traced his history to that historic event. All meetings at BCGS are free and open to the public.
For further information on this program please call (815) 879-3133 or stop in Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
