MENDOTA – Rev. and Mrs. Harold Koonce of Mendota will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Nov. 20. The couple’s family will host an open house held in their honor on Nov. 24 from 2-7 p.m. at United Pentecostal Church, 4401 State Rt. 251, Mendota. Family and friends are invited to attend.
Rev. Harold Koonce and the former Bernice Spicer were married on Nov. 20, 1948 in Vandalia. Rev. J. H. Reeter officiated. Attendants were Don Koonce and Norma Jean (Spicer) Keeling, both deceased.
They have five children, Danny (Vicki) Koonce of Brownstown, Mike (Kay) Koonce of Vandalia, Devra (Charles) Yeakel of Mendota, Jana (Jim) Trembly of Mendota, and Tim (Polly Ann) Koonce of Wapella. They also have 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Harold is a retired minister; Bernice is a housewife.
