MALTA – The International Education Committee at Kishwaukee College is celebrating Chinese cultural traditions with a Chinese Tea Ceremony on April 26 at 12:30 p.m. The event will be held in Room C1130 (the Student Lounge) located in the Kishwaukee College Student Center. It is free and open to the public.
The Chinese Tea Ceremony will be hosted by Hong Yu who currently lives in Sycamore. Yu holds an Masters in Ethnology from Ningxia University in China, with a specialization in National Culture, Business Anthropology, Anthropology of Foodways, and Dungans National Culture in Central Asia. The tea ceremony plays an important role in Chinese culture with many stylized rituals involved in the process of preparing and presenting tea. Yu will include a multi-media presentation on the tea ceremony and will also demonstrate the traditional ceremony, sharing tea with participants.
