Members of the Mendota Garden Club rake debris at Veterans Park, downtown Mendota on April 8. There was such a good member turnout for their Earth Day project that they expanded the cleanup to downtown and garden areas around the train station, Steve Lauer, club president noted. “We appreciated all of the volunteer workers showing up,” he said. This year, Earth Day will be officially celebrated April 22. Anyone interested in joining the club in future projects can contact Lauer at (815) 343-7364. (Photo contributed)
