PRINCETON – It’s time for some theatre magic. And how about some nostalgic and catchy music thrown in? And all delivered with a story that ends with good news. Don’t miss the Festival 56 production of Mary Poppins, with an appearance by Camp 56 kids, July 11-21 at the Grace Performing Arts Center in Princeton.

As the play opens on London’s Cherry Tree Lane, a frustrated nanny is quitting her job because the children, Jane and Michael, are intractable. Fortunately for everyone, Mary Poppins appears suddenly and takes charge of the children. Their adventures together include several life lessons, including the acquisition of the word “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” with Bert.

Even so, the children continue to be difficult and Mary leaves while they reconsider their behavior. In her absence, a new nanny takes over and terrorizes the household. The children’s parents experience a reversal and then a restoration of the family’s fortunes, and Mary returns. Eventually, with the family in happier circumstances than when she arrived, Mary drifts away to her next adventure.

The Grace Performing Arts Center is located at 316 South Main Street in Princeton and is fully accessible with public parking nearby.
