DEKALB – The Egyptian Theatre in DeKalb will present This is Christmas and The Joy of Christmas this weekend. Recycled Percussion, Jazz at the Egyptian and GENTRI: The Gentlemen Trio will kick off the new year.

This is Christmas

Kick off the holiday season and start a new family tradition with a joyful and interactive Christmas Concert featuring local musicians from Christ Community Church in DeKalb.

This is Christmas will be presented on Friday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.

The Buckinghams “The Joy of Christmas”

The Egyptian Theatre proudly presents legendary band, The Buckinghams, in an unforgettable evening, “The Joy of Christmas.” Combining classic rock hits with beloved holiday songs, the Chicago natives present an evening of entertainment guaranteed to delight! You’ll hear your rock favorites “Kind of a Drag,” “Hey Baby, They’re Playing Our Song,” “Don’t You Care,” and more. The brass-infused rock recreates brilliant holiday memories as you’ll want to sing along with the band to “White Christmas,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Jingle Bell Rock.” We dare you to stay in your seat when all you want to do is the Jingle Bell Rock. It’s the perfect gift for loved ones, and a great way to entertain family visiting during the holidays. Take the night off and amp up your Christmas spirit with us the last Saturday before Santa shows up.

The Buckinghams will perform on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Looking ahead into the new year, the Egyptian Theatre’s lineup includes:

Recycled Percussion

Since Justin Spencer formed Recycled Percussion in 1995, the band has been unstoppable. Their junk rock music became a national phenomenon week after week during their smash hit performances on America’s Got Talent in 2009. Playing over 4,000 shows and over 400 corporate events in over 15 countries, the group has also done guest appearances on “Carson Daly”, “The Today Show”, “China’s Got Talent” and the Latin Grammy Awards. After being featured on the cover of “USA Today” and being voted National Act of the Year a record-breaking six times, the band gained world-wide recognition.

In 2010, they sealed the deal and became headliners in Las Vegas. Taking 2017 by storm, Recycled Percussion has elevated their energy level, created new performance elements and continues to bring junk rock music to the Las Vegas Strip nightly in the Saxe Theater at Planet Hollywood.

Recycled Percussion will perform on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.

Jazz at the Egyptian

The Egyptian Theatre is proud to present “Jazz at the Egyptian” featuring performances by Jazz in Progress, the DeKalb High School Jazz Ensemble, the Sycamore High School Jazz Ensemble, and the NIU Jazz Orchestra.  Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind concert featuring performances by the area Jazz ensembles. Proceeds from the event will support local music programs at the high schools and NIU.

Jazz at the Egyptian will be presented on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 at 7 p.m.

GENTRI: The Gentlemen Trio

GENTRI: The Gentlemen Trio was established in June 2014 and is comprised of three highly trained tenors: Brad Robins, Casey Elliott and Bradley Quinn Lever. Pioneering a signature sound that can only be described as “Cinematic Pop,” the music of GENTRI is transfused with lush, epic orchestrations and rich, dynamic three-part harmonies all composed by the group’s producer Stephen Nelson.

GENTRI’s self-titled, debut EP was released March 31, 2015. The record spent 10 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 on two different Billboard charts, including three weeks at No. 2 on both the Classical and Classical Crossover charts. On the heels of their first album release, the Gents debuted their first music video to their original hit single, “Dare,” which made international headlines on news outlets around the world, including ABC World News, NBC Nightly News and Inside Edition.

The Gents recently released their full-length album, RISE, which included 8 new GENTRI original songs as well as two covers. It debuted at No. 3 on Billboard’s Classical and Classical Crossover Charts, right behind John Williams for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Andrea Bocelli. Critics of RISE call it “strong, brave, and inspiring” as well as “anything but boring.”

GENTRI has performed with world-renowned talent, including international tenor sensation Alfie Boe, Tony Award-winning vocalist Idina Menzel, and legendary rock band Journey at the Stadium of Fire, the nation’s largest Fourth of July firework celebration. Other notable events include performing at the Governor of Utah’s annual gala, as well as performing the national anthem for the Utah Jazz, San Diego Padres, and Colorado Rockies.

GENTRI: The Gentlemen Trio will perform on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets to any of these shows can be purchased online at egyptiantheatre.org. The Egyptian Theatre is located at 135 N. Second St. in DeKalb.
