American Legion
MENDOTA – The Mendota American Legion Post 540 will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, June13 at the Mendota VFW. All members are encouraged to attend.
LSCRTA
OGLESBY – The LaSalle County Retired Teachers Association held an executive board meeting on May 21 at Dickinson House in Oglesby.
Highlights of the meeting included unfinished business: reflections of the Spring General Meeting, the Little Free Library installation and dedication, reflections of the IRTA AREA 1 Conference, and a report of the ROE Banquet and the LSCRTA presentation table.
New business matters included: July 23 Summer Social Meeting, newsletter reservation page, and Sept. 24 Fall General meeting and speakers. Other new business included: a mention of the Aug. 13 IRTA Senior Day at the Illinois State Fair for seniors 65 and older, and a Sunshine Committee to send notes and other materials to retired educators in nursing homes.
Mark your calendars for these upcoming dates:
* Monday, July 23 – Summer Social meeting, an old fashion picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dickenson House in Oglesby. A variety of games and festivities are planned. Lunch will be provided by Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches.
* Monday, Sept. 24 – Fall General meeting will be held at Festivities Unlimited in Ottawa with registration donuts and coffee beginning at 8:30 a.m. The program will begin at 9 a.m.
