MENDOTA – Several members of the VFW Post 4079 Auxiliary meet on June 9 for the monthly business meeting.

An Honor Flight was held June 7 out of the Quad Cities. It was the 44th flight. An auxiliary member was an escort for a veteran from Rock Falls. She expressed that it was a long day, but well worth the time.

In unfinished business: Cancer insurance will be finalized at the July meeting.

In new business: seven members will be attending the Department Convention in Springfield, June 14-16. They will be required to give a report at the July meeting. Members are requested to attend the July 14 meeting, for the annual inspection by the 9th District president.

Members are reminded that the next audit will take place at 10:30 a.m. on July 14, followed by the meeting at 11 a.m.

IVADA

PERU – Illinois Valley Activity Director’s Association held a meeting on June 11 at Liberty Restaurant in Peru.

Business included: By laws will be revised to include 10 meetings a year instead of 12.

Guest Amy Gillespie, Admissions & Marketing Coordinator from La Salle County Home was introduced.

Members honored Jolene Kulpa from Aperion Care, Spring Valley, on her retirement. Kulpa a was founding member of IVADA and also the state organization. Kulpa will continue to be a lifetime paid up member as voted by the group. Chris Thompson, Greenfield Retirement Home, Princeton addressed members about “Impact: Designing A Fall Prevention Program for Seniors.”

The next meeting will be held at Greenfield Retirement Home, Princeton on July 9th at noon.

Topic for the meeting will be “More Than Creating Activity Calendars.”
