SUBLETTE — Sublette could be getting curbs and gutters on its roads.

The Sublette Village Board has been discussing putting curbs and gutters in on the roads in Sublette. But, according to Sublette Village President Michael Vaessen on Aug. 14 during the regular village board meeting, if the curbs and gutters are put in, that would change the drainage on the roads. Vaessen said if the village didn’t change the drainage then there would be no reason to put curbs and gutters in.

Vaessen asked the village’s water committee to contact two local engineering firms and get a bid of the engineering costs for changing the drainage.

In other board news:

• The board approved a bid from Do It All Services to remove eight trees, seven of which are in the park, for a cost of $4,200. Village trustees Julie Kessel and Jerry Leffelman voted no. Vaessen said he wanted to see if the company would take down an additional tree for the price.
• The board approved a motion to purchase two flow meters and have them installed for approximately $7,600.
• Sublette 365 is getting ready for this year’s Sublette Fest. The annual event will be held Sept. 9 and 10. During this event, the community will be able to tour the renovated community building. A special thank you dinner will be held for the donors and volunteers. The board approved a request for a liquor license for this year’s Sublette Fest.
• Leffelman said he had four residents asking about garbage pick-up. He contacted the village’s garbage provider who told him they have a new driver who is following the rules of the village’s contract. Leffelman said village residents are only allowed three containers not weighing more than 40 pounds.
• Don Dinges reported to the board that four new businesses should be opening in Sublette in the next few months. In terms of Sublette Fest, Dinges asked if the empty lot downtown and the sidewalks could be used for a crafter/vendor fair. He said that between 20-40 vendors could show up for the festival.

The next regular meeting of the Sublette Village Board will be Monday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.
