MENDOTA - Mendota VFW Post 4079 is pleased to announce its winner for the 2021 Voice of Democracy audio-essay (speech) competition, Aliza Gisei Salinas-Cervantes, who is a senior at Mendota High School.
Salinas-Cervantes was presented with a certificate and a $100 scholarship award. Her speech has been forwarded to District 9 for the next level of competition against all other post winners in the region.
All Mendota High School students were invited to participate in the competition. The Voice of Democracy theme this year was, “America: Where Do We Go From Here?” Voice of Democracy is acclaimed as a way for students to present their ideas, demonstrate their patriotism, and receive awards for their efforts.
