MENDOTA - Timothy T. McCarthy, 72, of Mendota passed away Jan. 9, 2022 in his home.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services and burial will be private. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota assisted the family.

Tim was born Aug. 8, 1949 in Chicago to Charles and Dorothy (Keeley) McCarthy. He married Barbara Rife.

Survivors include his wife of Mendota; a son, Ryan McCarthy of Mendota; and one sister, Bridget (Michael) Galazkiewicz of Minooka.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Tim served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He worked as a security guard for Mendota Community Hospital and Illinois Valley Community College. He was a car enthusiast and a Chicago Bears fan. He loved animals, camping and being outdoors.
