Posted

UTICA – Starved Rock Lodge will host storytellers Steve Seaborn on Oct. 13 and Bill Myers on Oct. 20. Listen to some of the Illinois Valley’s most engaging storytellers as they share stories, legends, facts and fiction around the fire at Fox Ridge, across from the lodge. Audience participation is welcome so be ready for some fun. Storytime starts at 7 p.m. These are free events, but donations will be accepted.

Hike for a Cure will be held at Starved Rock Lodge on Oct. 14. Hike to the top of Starved Rock in support of a cure for breast cancer. The event will run from 9-11 a.m. with four guided hikes departing from the Back Door Lounge every 30 minutes. Hikers may choose to participate on their own and depart at any time. Cost to hike is $20 per person and includes a t-shirt, a light breakfast and a memory hope stone. Participants are encouraged to head downtown Utica after their hike for Angel of Hopefest.

Angel of Hopefest is a free street party hosted by The Utica Business Association, August Hill Winery and Team Angels Among Us. There will be drink specials, food, artisan vendors, raffles, 50/50 and live music from local acts and Chicago blues legends Howard and The White Boys. Angel of Hopefest will be taking place downtown Utica and will be running from 12-4 p.m. The purpose of all of these events is to celebrate breast cancer survivors, help those in the fight, and remember those we have lost.

An Oktoberfest dinner will be held at Starved Rock Lodge on Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. Sample German wine and beer, enjoy a buffet of German foods, and listen to authentic German music by the Duseldorfers German Band. Reservations required. For pricing and reservations call (815) 220-7386.
